BCC-UFig-uSpec
Conditions of Use
These catalogs are provided to DESI collaborators with the understanding
that they can be used for any internal purpose. Results from BCC-UFig-uSpec may
be used under the DES Publication Policy. This policy requires collaboration
with the authors of the simulation, and we strongly encourage anyone
intending to use the simulations in published work to email either Chihway Chang
(chihway.chang@phys.ethz.ch) or Andrina Nicola (nicolaa@phys.ethz.ch)
when you start your project to let us know how they will be used.

Using our developed Ultra Fast Image Generator (UFIG; Bergé et al. (2013)) we simulate images and are currenly also working on simulating spectra using uSpec for a total of 4 coadd tiles, corresponding to an area of about 2 square degrees. Our image and spectra simulations are based on the BCC simulations (Blind Cosmology Challenge; Busha et al. (2013)) for the Dark Energy Survey (DES).
This release is a first version and is to be used for testing purposes only.

Simulations
Images
We calibrated our image simulations using the technical properties of the DECam such that the images resemble DECaLS images as closely as possible. The PSF, background and seeing are set to the mean values reported for DECaLS images.
We used a circular Moffat profile without spatial variation as a model for the Point Spread Function. The Moffat PSF model has a beta parameter of 3.5.
BCC catalogs
We used the following catalogs to generate our images:
- Aardvark_v1.0c_truth_des
- Aardvark_v1.0_truth_stars
- Aardvark_v1.0_desqso_truth
SExtractor settings
Configuration files used for running SExtractor can be found here.
Spectra
Work in progress.
